The March 2025 'Big Reveal' Presentation
17th April 2025
Dear Residents
Thank you to those who attended the recent ‘Big Reveal’ traffic management meeting where the Parish Council’s Community Traffic Management Group presented its initial traffic calming proposal for slowing the traffic on the B3349 (Alton Road). The proposal was developed in response to the results from the 2024 scoping survey, where 80% of respondents wanted a reduction in speed, 75% of who were in favour of speed humps. As promised at the meeting, the presentation highlights are now available here.
Thanks also to those of you who provided additional comments and questions on the proposal which we will work through by seeking data in support of noise reduction, review the project costs including the annual maintenance costs for the PC and residents, plus explore the feasibility of enforced traffic speed cameras.
As you review the slides, please bear in mind that the Community Traffic Management Group (CTMG) will provide regular updates at each Parish Council meeting as it works through the process imposed by Hampshire County Council (HCC) for this project. The final proposal which will be presented to the Parish Council will also require a community engagement process. This process will determine whether the project is a GO or NO GO.
As you can imagine, this is a significant project the working group has been tasked to deliver on behalf of the Parish Council so if anyone has some time and enthusiasm and would like to get involved then please let us know.
Best wishes
